Jump Rope

How long has it been since you’ve jumped rope? For a lot of us I’m sure we last did it as a child. Well, I just completed a mean little ten minutes on a jump rope and, let me tell you, it’s a lot harder than a remember. I had hoped to do 3x that much, but I just couldn’t.

Partly to blame, I suppose, is my fitness level (which I’ve been working on daily for three months 🙂 ). Still, jumping rope is tough. Seriously, just go try to do it for three minutes. I can almost guarantee it’s not like you remember.

I’m going to keep jumping rope every day from now on and hopefully it’ll help. I’m already running every day (by running a mean walking with spurts of jogging, but it’s getting better) and weight training a couple times a week. This’ll become just another part of my overall fitness training.

In the future I want to add some heavy bag and speed bag training, as well as some plyometrics exercises. I’m hoping to be in the best shape of my life by year’s end and hope to start boxing by the spring, so any advice would be awesome.
