What Was Your First Car?

Everyone had special memories with their first car – the freedom, the speeding tickets, the air conditioning going out, whatever. So, here’s a question that I’m sure everyone will enjoy. What was your first car? Mine was an ’82 Datsun 280ZX. She was a beautiful arctic white with red leather interior. For an ’82 anything, she was loaded – air conditioning, intermittent wipers, even cruise control. It was a two-seater, but somehow we managed to fit more than that in there sometimes (ie. the hatchback). Fun times.

  1. ’84 Buick Skylark. Baby blue. Paid $800 for it. Cash. When I was 14 (you can drive at 14 in South Dakota).

  2. 1978 red Monte Carlo.

  3. South Dakota has a lot going for it. Highest speed limits on the interstate in the country . . . 75mph.

    • I heard Montana had an 80mph speed limit. Do you know anything about that? Oh, and believe it or not, Texas’ I-35 (which I’m sure you’re familiar with) used to be 70mph all the way from Dallas to Austin.
