Remember how great it was to wake up on Saturday morning as a kid? You turn on the tv and there were all these awesome cartoons that we all probably watched way too much of. Here are my top 10 favorite cartoons growing up:
- Batman: The Animated Series
- The Flintstones
- The Jetsons
- Pinky and the Brain
- Darkwing Duck
- Transformers
- Goof Troop
- Inspector Gadget
- The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
- Spiderman
I could probably name more, but those represent some of the best of my time as a kid. What about you?

Transformers, He-Man, G. I. Joe, Tom and Jerry, Loony Toons (Foghorn Leghorn is great!)… I am sure there are more, but that was a long time ago!
I never watched He-Man. I hear that there’s a movie in the works though. Foghorn Leghorn rocked.
I’d list the same as Jason and add Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (hello????) Thundercats and Voltron. I also liked Tiny Tunes and Bobby’s World.
Bryan L
TMNT would’ve made my list if there was another spot. Good show.
Oh yeah, I forgot about XMen. Huge oversight!!
X-Men was cool, but I preferred Batman or Spiderman.
My list is here.
Matt; Did you ever see the original He-Man movie Masters of the Universe?
No, I never did. Any good?
Matt: You’d have to be a fan of the cartoon to appreciate it, especially nowadays given how dated it is.
I guess that means it stayed true to the cartoon? That’s always good in my book.
Matt: Not really. In fact, there’s very little continuity between the cartoon and the movie, but if someone were to watch the movie today, having never been a fan of the cartoon, then they’d think it was shockingly bad.
Well, ok then.
My wife and I live in Arlen, Texas with Hank, Peggy and Bobby Hill! Too bad the show’s over.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I enjoy the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series that was done by the same Genndy Tartakovsky who also did Dexter’s Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack. The recent CGI Clone Wars cartoons are OK, but I prefer the “cartoon” series. Gosh, I really am a geek!
